Ray Mihtar BC-H.A.S Hearing Aid Expert
Harwon “Ray” Mihtar is a distinguished professional in the hearing aid industry, known for his commitment to improving hearing health and accessibility. Since joining Beltone in 2014 as a Hearing Instrument Specialist (HIS), Ray has leveraged his entrepreneurial background to transform the lives of countless individuals through comprehensive hearing evaluations and personalized hearing aid solutions.
In 2019, he founded Vanguard Hearing Center, driven by a mission to provide high-quality, FDA-approved prescription hearing aids at affordable prices. Ray’s deep understanding of the barriers faced by many, particularly in underserved communities, has fueled his dedication to ensuring that cost does not prevent individuals from receiving the care they need.
Ray's passion for this field is deeply personal. Having witnessed the impact of untreated hearing loss in his own family, he is committed to changing perceptions around hearing health. "For too long, hearing loss was seen as an unavoidable part of aging. I believe it should be treated as a vital aspect of overall health," he states.
At Vanguard, Ray emphasizes patient choice by offering a diverse range of hearing aid options, from advanced technology to more basic models. He actively collaborates with community organizations, such as Michigan Rehabilitation Services, to connect clients with resources that facilitate access to necessary prescription hearing aids, particularly for those who face financial challenges.
With nearly 30 million adults in the U.S. experiencing mild to moderate hearing loss, yet only 14 percent using prescription hearing aids due to cost, Ray is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of hearing health. He emphasizes the connection between hearing loss and other health issues, including dementia, and advocates for early intervention.
Beyond his professional commitments, Ray values time spent with his family and enjoys leisure activities like bowling and supporting Detroit’s sports teams. His dedication to patient care and community service drives him to inspire others to prioritize their hearing health as part of their overall wellness routine.
Ray Mihtar’s work is characterized by a profound commitment to enhancing the quality of life for his clients through effective hearing solutions. His vision is to make regular hearing assessments as commonplace as dental and vision checks, paving the way for a healthier future for all.
